Below are three sample scripts adapted from The 7 Minute Phone Call. Each follows the Hook-Problem-Bridge-Close framework. Customize the specifics for your industry and prospect.

Script 1: The Cold Prospect Call
You (Hook) "Hey [Name], this is [Your Name]. I know this is out of the blue, but I came across your [company/project/post] and had a quick thought I wanted to run by you. Do you have about 7 minutes?"
Them "Uh, sure. What's this about?"
You (Problem) "I noticed you are [specific observation about their business]. A lot of people in your position are dealing with [specific pain point]. Is that something that has been on your radar?"
Them "[Describes their situation]"
You (Bridge) "That makes a lot of sense. What if there were a way to [desired outcome] without [common objection]? I have been working with a few [similar people/companies] on exactly this, and the results have been [brief result]."
You (Close) "Would it be worth a 20-minute conversation this week to see if this could work for you? I have Thursday at 2 or Friday at 10 open."
Pro tip: The Hook works because you lead with something specific about them, not about you. The Close works because you offer two specific times instead of asking "when works for you."
Script 2: The Re-Engagement Call (Stalled Lead)
You (Hook) "Hey [Name], it is [Your Name]. We talked about [topic] back in [month]. I am not calling to pick up where we left off -- something new came up that made me think of you."
Them "Oh hey, yeah -- sorry I dropped off. What's new?"
You (Problem) "No worries at all. I just saw [relevant trigger event -- industry news, their company update, market shift]. When we last spoke, you mentioned [their original pain point]. I am curious -- is that still a priority, or has it shifted?"
Them "[Updates you on current situation]"
You (Bridge) "Got it. Since we last talked, I have seen [new development, case study, or solution update] that directly addresses that. I think it could save you [specific benefit]."
You (Close) "Would it make sense to block 20 minutes this week so I can walk you through it? I will keep it tight and you can decide if it is worth going deeper."
Pro tip: The key to re-engagement is leading with new information. Never restart a stalled conversation by saying "just following up" or "checking in." Give them a reason to re-engage.
Script 3: The Referral Call
You (Hook) "Hey [Name], I am [Your Name]. [Mutual Contact] suggested I reach out to you -- they mentioned you are doing great work in [their space] and thought we would have a good conversation."
Them "Oh nice, how do you know [Mutual Contact]?"
You (Problem) "[Brief answer about mutual connection]. The reason they thought of you is that a lot of people in [their industry] are running into [common challenge]. They said that might be relevant to what you are building. Is that fair?"
Them "[Confirms or redirects]"
You (Bridge) "I have been working on [your solution/approach] that has helped people like [Mutual Contact] with exactly that. I do not want to pitch you on a call like this, but I think there is a conversation worth having."
You (Close) "Can I send you a quick overview and then we find 20 minutes next week to discuss? What day works best?"
Pro tip: Referral calls have the highest conversion rate of any call type. The mutual connection does the heavy lifting -- your job is to be respectful of the introduction and move quickly to value.
